On Education Should Be Concerned With Personal Happiness

Although people in different times understand happiness in different ways, they have been perusing it all the time. Nowadays, people conceive of happiness as living a better life, which reflects their satisfaction on self-fulfillment and embodies the harmony of their physique, psychology and personality, what's more, which indicates people's contentment of the realization of the material and mental needs. So it represents the unification of personal happiness and social one, thus, it becomes the goal of people' s life. However, people are not born to living a happy life. So education should play an important role on cultivating people's abilities to obtain happiness. Historical facts and logical analysis have proved that the practical purpose of education is to care for people' s happiness. Through the foreign and domestic education history, private life is always the focus of education; moreover, by studying the seemly conflicting viewpoints on educational purpose, happiness proves to be the common point.I. It should also become the pursuit of education to concern about the happiness of life, which is determined by the purpose of happiness, the property of educational object and the nature of education. Unfortunately, at present the concerning about life happiness is far from enough in education.II. Education should concern about life happiness, because it is closely related to the formation of people's viewpoint of happiness, to people's sel f-realization, to thedevelopment of people's creativity, to the training of people's self-determination, and to the construction of people's opinion of social values. In a word, education can help to improve people's abilities to acquire happiness.III. The education concerning life happiness should be the integrity of happiness purposed education and autotelic education, that of the result and the process, and that of the aim and the means. Actually, it contains two layers of meanings: (1) The process of education should become the process of experiencing happiness by teachers and students; (2) The result of education should be helpful to make teachers and students lead happy lives. The fulfillment of education is to raise the level of happiness and to outdo it.
