Mathematics is mother of natural science. And it is a fundamental course in primary and middle school. Students spend a lot of time and energy on moths learning. Still many students don't have strong enough motivation for maths learning and lack of interest in it. This phenomena is especially obvious in vocational high school. This demands us to focus on students' learning motivation and interest and in search of unique teaching methodology which best suits vocational high school students.Learning motivation is a dynamic factor to push forward our students learning activities. It enables students to concentrate and be consistent and enhance their endurance to frustration. It greatly affects students' learning attitude and positivity. The research on theory and practice of mathematics learning motivation started in educational field quite a long time ago and has achieved a lot. However, in the face of the huge amount of so-called maths-learning-deficient students in vocational high school, it's comparatively lack of research on theory and practice of mathematics learning motivation. In terms of maths teaching in vocational high school, We ought to study our students' mathematics learning motivation and thus find out its rule and then learn of the factors to affect the forming of mathematics learning motivation. It is of important practical significance to purposely cultivate students' mathematics learning motivation and enhance mathematics learning and teaching quality. It is also the mainpurpose of this research work. Many educators from home and abroad have different ideas on the origination, classification and effects of learning motivation for their varied backgrounds, Especially on classification of learning motivation. On the basis of summing up varied research works of educators from home and abroad, and put into consideration of the present vocational high school students' psychological characteristics and special situation of maths teaching in vocational high school, I categorize the mathematics learning motivations into five basic types: cognition motivation, ideal motivation, self-realization motivation, dependence motivation and compulsion motivation. This research begins with an investigation on learning motivation and interest in order to understand the mathematics learning motivation and interest in vocational high school thus find out rules to search for solutions and to improve their positivity to mathemetics learning and academic scores, In addition, to enhance teaching and learning quality. The questionnaire was designed on the basis of pedagogics and psychology and in connection with maths teaching contents and vocational high school students' learning characteristics, with reference books: Investigation and Research on College Students Learning Motivation by LIQINGSHAN & SHIXIUYIN; Investigation and Research on Students Chemistry Learning Motivation in Junior High School by LIUKEWEN. Althoughthere are some differences between mathematics and chemistry, still much similarities in students learning motivation. After designing the questionnair, a pre-test is carried out in my school in a small scope. And then a further emendation and correction. Eventually a Questionnaire on Vocational High School Students' Mathemetics learning Motivation formally comes into being. Then a sample questionnaire investigation is carried out in 19 vocational schools in Jinan. To analyse the data we've got, with the assistance of SPSS 10.0?a sort of computer software, several descriptive statistics methods are put in use such as relative analysis, factor analysis, factor analysis, quantitive analysis etc. The major conclusions are as follows:I. The order of various kinds of mathematics learning motivations of vocational high school students is as follows from strongest to weakest: compulsion motivation, ideal motivation, dependence motivation, cognition motivation, self- realization motivation.II. Sex and region differences of students have no obvious influences to the forming of m...
