The origin of School Development Planning (SDP) fully reflects that educational and managerial actions in schools are planned and complex. With the great change of environments SDP has gradually become the focus of people's attention since 1980's.At present, the research on SDP in our country is generally at the point of the beginning and few relevant studies can be found. In practice of SDP, a clear theoretical system has not been set up.Using both of quantitative study and qualitative study, taking the theory and practice of SDP as objects, the research in the thesis explores the background in which SDP sprang up and the conceptual framework of SDP, sums up and reveals some experiences and problems existing in practice, and presents a few of suggestions in accordance with the reflection.In the part of the theoretical research, it's pointed out that SDP is not only a plan of school development, but also a process during which a plan for development is made and ensured to be effective.In the part of the experimental research, it's found that present SDP usually attaches importance to a final plan or text while ignores the value of SDP as pattern of management and a way (instrument) of learning, that most of SDP is only the reflection of detailed principal's personal intention, that the assurance and control of SDP are still imperfect.In the part of the conclusion, primary factors restricting practice of SDP are pointed out. including present educational management regulations and policy, managerial mechanism of school organization and lagging theoretical research on SDP. At the end of the thesis, several concrete and feasible suggestions are accordingly offered.
