Nowadays, English teaching is becoming more and more popular in kindergartens in China. For the lack of efficient instruction, many teachers feel very confused about how to teach English. However, the studies on English teaching in kindergarten remain superficial, especially in the area of English teaching methodology. There are three main English teaching models in kindergartens. They are Subject Teaching Model, Whole-English-Class Teaching Model and Immersion Teaching Model. So in this paper, we try to present the status quo of English teaching in kindergartens through the descriptions of three models. Then we try to find their characteristics, to discover the problems, thus to raise our opinions and make our suggestions. In order to analyze each model deeply, one case has been selected for each model. After recording the words of teacher and children in these cases, we coded their words by The Inventory of Communicative Acts-Abridge (INCA-A). At the same time, we interviewed the related teachers.Based on the analysis of the teacher's language input and children's language usage in each case, we concluded that:The teacher's language input is the crucial point in English teaching in kindergartens, determining the children's ability to use the language.Children's ability to use English is the biggest problem in English teaching in kindergartens. And the key of the problem is that children have less chance to use English, and the quality of their English use is not at all satisfactory.
