English teaching in kindergartens is one of the frequently discussed topics in early childhood education. Wuxi City, with deep cultural foundation and high educational level, provides favorable conditions for English education. Meanwhile, urged by parents' increasing demand for English teaching for their kids as early as possible, more and more kindergartens have offered English courses. What do the teachers do in these courses? What problems do they have during the teaching? The thesis endeavors to answer the questions above in order to make suggestions for the improvement of English teaching in kindergartens.The thesis adopts both quantitative and qualitative research. The data collected from the questionnaires are presented with analysis and discussion.The research finds that the kindergarten teachers of English are at loss in choosing an appropriate one between subject teaching model and immersion teaching model. Which one is better for children? Which one is more suitable for Wuxi? The thesis includes a study on the teaching models in kindergartens based on the analysis of the teachers' language input and children's language usage in each model. The results of the survey reflect both the advantages and disadvantages of English education in kindergartens of Wuxi. Based on the results, some suggestions are put forward for training of kindergarten English teachers.
