| In 1996 UNESCO issued a report, learning—intrinsic fortune. In the book, four important ideas which are about learning for future life are highlighted: learning to comprehend, learning to do things, learning to live with others, learning to survive. Another ideas in the book is the objective of life-long learning and learning how to learn. Therefore, learning for a student in school is no longer for the sake of high marks or knowledge but for the sake of learning for future and "learning" itself. Seeking fulfillment of requirement of international education reform in 21st century and tackling of some problems existing in the current physical education in universities, the paper is intended to introduce meta-learning theory into physical education in universities. The purpose is to find out meta-cognitive learning methods in physical education in universities, cultivate a student's meta-cognitive abilities and realize life-long physical education.The paper adopts literature method, expert interview method and logical study method to make the theoretical investigation. In the process of analyzing, summarizing and inducing massive materials, the writer of the paper put his focus both on theoretical and realistic significance. The theoretical significance lies in: the connotation, structure and significance for research of meta-learning theory and its relevant theories; analysis and verification of the appliance of meta-learning theory into physical education in universities; the conclusion that meta-learning is suitable for the current physical education in universities.Its realistic values lies in: through the analysis and criticism of meta-learning theory, the appliance of meta-learning theory into physical education in universities in order to form advanced physical learning theory and thus contribute to the fulfillment of the objectives of education reform in 21st century and life-long physical education. The paper is divided into five parts. The first part introduces problems in the current physical education in universities and the value of studying meta-learning theory. The second part analyzes relevant theories: the connotation, structure and significance for research of meta-learning theory and its relevant theories. The third part argues on the possibilities of the appliance of meta-learning theory into the teaching of physical education in general universities. The forth part argues about the enlightenment brought about by the introduction of meta-learning theory into the connotation, structure and significance for research of meta-learning theory and its relevant theories. The fifth part concludes that the appliance of meta-learning theory into physical education in universities will certainly put forward physical education reform, improve the effect and quality of physical education, fulfill the objective of life-long physical education and establish an all-round study-oriented socialistic society. |
