With strongly typical features of Chinese writing, it is necessary to build up a assessment system in a scientific way in its teaching. Based on our teaching research and experience in writing teaching in Year of 7, we have set up a formative assessment system according to the Chinese curriculum standards on writing. Meanwhile, by adapting the advanced teaching philosophies as well as the effective formative assessment thoroughly into our real class teaching for a certain period, which is supposed to evaluate student's writing skill based on their class writing, synthesis learning and portfolio writing, we have gained a progressing achievement in writing teaching. In my essay, it will be divided into 4 parts in order to explain our writing teaching research and our research programs. Part I. A brief introduction of formative assessment and its methodological theories on purpose to explain the necessity and importance of applying formative assessment and evaluating strategies in writing teaching; Part II. Introduction of Chinese curriculum standards on writing and visualized construction of formative assessment system; Part III. General condition of applying formative assessment in writing research of Year 7; Part IIII. Summary and reflection on purpose to point out the problems still under-solved in our research and foresee our researching orientation in future.
