How to evaluate the student's study efficiently in web based learning environment is a realistic problem in front of us demanding studying and solving urgently. For many years, because of overly reliance on traditional examination, we lack overall understanding in study evaluation and assessment, therefore, there are certain mistaken ideas during the process of evaluation. It is a kind of new developing study way that the web based learning, it is different from there is the very great one in traditional studying, the realization that can be convenient in web based learning divides level studying and individualized studying, to such new type study way, it is necessary for us to carry on some introspection, according to study situation and combine individual character difference students and bring forward scientific, object and efficient formative assessment system that suit for web based learning.The principle of combining with application study on the basis of the theoretical research, this text is on the basis of taking action and studying in about one year, we put forward the focal point of web based learning assessment is, under the guidance of principle of final assessment and formative assessment and on the basis of pay attention to quantitative assessment and non-quantitative assessment to combine together, have strengthened the research and practice of formative assessment.The article Reviews current assessment system of web based learning, analysis its features, principles, procedures, concept of formative assessment, comparison of different type of assessment methods and the suggestion of new curriculum to formative assessment. Based on these, I studies the web based learning formative assessment system. Under the certain hypothesis, I create a new evaluation model and divides evaluation system into six parts, information acquisition, information process, intelligent agent, assessment computing, assessment knowledge base and result process. In the representation of assessment information, I put forward a web based learningformative assessment markup language (WLFAML) to make the assessment information representation standardize convenient in exchange assessment information and objection in assessment result. To verify the efficiency and feasibility of assessment model in practice, I use the technology of ASP, XML, Database and Artificial Intelligence to develop a Massive Multiplayer Online Virtual Learning Platform (MMOVLP) and Intelligent Learning Assessment System (ILAS). Use MMOVLP and ILAS, I develop an experiment study in middle school. Via the collection, neaten and analysis the data acquired in experiment, I verify the efficiency and feasibility of assessment model.
