At the beginning of this century, new basic education reform has been emerged in China. In the New National English Curriculum Standards (2001), TBLT (task-based language teaching ) is the recommended foreign language teaching approach to primary and secondary English education in China. The introduction and recommendation of TBLT play an important role in solving the problem that English teaching wastes too much time but produces little effect in Chinese foreign language teaching classroom. The thesis introduces the development process of TBLT in the home and abroad and the throretical foundation of TBLT approach. The thesis analyzes the definition and the structure of TBLT and task classification. Through the practical application cases of TBLT, the thesis illustrates the design principles and implement steps of TBLT. It is hoped that the thesis can be helpful to the application of TBLT in Chinese middle school.
