A study is made of the types and characteristics of the occupational pressure of Dalian Senior Middle schools by means of a questionnaire. Analysis shows that the occupational pressure mostly result from work load, economic life, and social anticipation, teaching demands, professional improvements and interpersonal relationship. Among the six areas the pressure from interpersonal relationship is relatively low while that from the other five areas is much heavier. One fact is obvious that the occupation as a teacher is of high pressure and all middle school teachers bear much pressure. The questionnaire and evaluation show that eleven factors press teachers most, which mainly stem from the work load, economical life and social anticipation . Through analysis of the six dimensions mentioned above, it is made clear that teachers of different ages and different professional titles have different pressure in work load, interpersonal relationship , social anticipation and teaching demands, and thatteachers in key schools and those in ordinary schools bear different pressure in teaching demands and that no difference is shown in different sexes in the area of pressure. Finally suggestions are put forward to ease the pressure.
