The university-school collaborative research has attracted a lot attention of researchers and practitioners in education at home and abroad. The collaborative researches play a unique role in teacher's professional development and the improvement of teaching quality in elementary and secondary schools. In recent years, the contact between the universities and elementary and secondary schools has been increasing. Different kinds of collaborative have been established and the patterns of collaborative researches are diverse. The collaborative researches have achieved significant results. However, we can still find some issues in the researches according to a survey of the present situation. The leading issues involve some misunderstanding about the theoretical foundations of cooperative researches, the discourse monopoly of university teachers, and the utilitarian inclination of the principals of elementary and secondary schools and so on. This paper is intended to investigate the present situation where the collaborative researches are carried out. By reflecting on the issues in the collaborative researches in universities, elementary and secondary schools, this paper puts forward some ideas to improve the collaborative between these education institutions.The thesis consists of four parts:Preface: This part is mainly about the background and research methods of the study and the definitions of collaboration and university-school collaborative research.Part one: Present situation of university-school collaboration research: diversiform collaborative research modes. This part summarizes the diversiform collaboration modes and describes the complex and multiple collaboration status quo by cases study.Part two: Achievement and problems of university-school collaborative research. This part inquires into achievement of university-school collaboration and also reflects on the existing problems from the aspects of university teachers, secondary, primary teachers, headmasters and other aspects.Part three: Reflection on the university-school collaborative research. In view of the existing research problems of university-school collaboration this part introduces the rules of research and the ways of how to set up school-based collaborative system based on the successful experience of PDS.
