The Research into the Reading Achievement Assessment for Primary Students is a sub-research based on the need of the Research on Students' Chinese Achievement Assessment, which originated during the process of research on the programme-National Primary & Senior Students Achievement Monitor in Full-time Compulsory Education of Education Department. This study attempts to construct the index system of primary students' reading achievement assessment, which explores the efficient means of assessment and improves Chinese Assessment in the revolution of Compulsory Education Curriculum.This thesis is composed of five parts.Introduction analyzes the background of this research, and outline its content. There isn't a clear index system for reading test and there is obvious shortcoming in test technology, so the quality of reading assessment can't be guaranteed. In order to improve the reliability and validity of reading assessment for primary students, this study will be developed around three main issues: first, it forms a brief understanding of reading ability and its ingredients through the trimming of national and foreign literature; second, this study constructs primary students' reading achievement assessment preliminarily under the background of New Curriculum by comparing research and tests of mother language tests both in China and aboard; third, the efficacy of different kinds of items is analyzed by comparing the test technology in some important foreign reading assessment system and reality tests.Chapter 1: Based on the analysis of literature concerning reading, the type of reading, the ingredients of reading ability, this study clarifys advantages and disadvantages of different opinions, interpreting standpoint and interact model are considered as the basis of this study. This study will focus on different aims of reading, and construct a reading assessment framework which can be presented by students' act. Through analyzing three foreign reading assessment system (IEA's PIRLS, OECD's PISA, and NAEP), we make it clear that the function of Bloom's and SOLO in constructing target system and determines that we will apply SOLO to make items in order to reflect students' reading level objectively.Chapter 2: Reading assessment system for primary students which contains test situation and test ability is constructed primarily. According to students' reading purpose in real life, test situation is divided into three types: "Reading for literature experience", "Reading for information", and "Reading to perform a task".
