Cheeloo University was the only Christian university in the modern Shandong. In such a place full of strong atmosphere of traditional culture as Shandong, the hometown of Confucius and Mencius, there must be special means for a Christian university to survive and develop. And its unique campus culture was one of those most important reasons.This thesis has a systematic research on Cheeloo University in the period from 1928 to 1937 using the theory of campus culture. On the basis of Cheeloo University files, this thesis expounds the overall features of its campus culture and analyzes its characteristics and the main reason for their evolvement. The Cheeloo University campus culture mainly included its curriculum culture, extracurricular culture, and organization culture. The arrangement of curriculum in Cheeloo University was comprehensive and novel, trying to keep in step with the times, which laid a foundation for a rational knowledge structure of students. Cheeloo University not only emphasized the study of specialized knowledge, but also attached great importance to the enrichment of students' extracurricular lives. All kinds of sports activities, recreational activities, religious activities, and students' organization activities could be seen all around the campus. The organization culture was also a prominent component of the campus culture of Cheeloo University. The university's style was fully demonstrated in its school song, school badge and school motto. The campus culture was very active in the period from 1928 to 1937, the golden age of Cheeloo University.In its development, the Cheeloo University campus culture gradually gained its characteristics of being pragmatic, academic, humanism and religionary. Influenced by such a campus culture, the students had a good grasp of specialized knowledge and great ability to serve the society. Moreover, this pragmatic and people-oriented campus culture enabled the students to develop a down-to-earth manner and fine qualities to serve the society and care for others.
