A Study Of The Bao-xue In JingXi During The Period Of The Republic Of China

In 1930s, the Nanjing National Government created the Bao-Xue on the base of Bao-Jia system in order to eliminate the influences of the Communist Party, to develop the elementary education and to reorganize and renovate the society in countryside. The Bao-Xue was first tried out in 1934, and then popularized in JiangXi province. The experience of the Bao-Xue in JiangXi was popularized in the whole nation when the NanJjng National Government was carrying out the National Education in 1940. The practice of the Bao-Xue has made profound influences on the country society, especially on the rural education.This thesis studies the Bao-Xue in JiangXi. Utilizing a large amount of the documental data, the dossier and investigational data which made by the writer, from the view of history and pedagogy, the paper expounds the cause, the general situation and the characteristic of the Bao-Xue, investigates its some specific items, such as the administrative management institution, the supervision and guidance, the installation of the courses, the source of funds, the engagement and cultivation of the teachers, the remuneration of the teachers. The paper also analyzes and comments on the effect and influence of the Bao-Xue.The paper draws a conclusion that the practice of the Bao-Xue in JiangXi was success as a whole. It has made the elementary education of JiangXi in the period of the Republic of China from traditional pattern to modern, and has become an important method and medium for government to reorganize and renovate the country society and to link up the relation amount the government, the gentries and the masses. It has also taken an important role in renovating the folk custom in countryside.
