Research On Operation Mode Of Modern Distance Open Education

The modern long-distance and open education is a new way of education. It is a primary method to build a lifelong studying system in the knowledge and economy age. We study the patterns of its operations in order to explore the objective law of the continuable, stable and healthy development of the modern long-distance and open education and then form our own operation patterns. This paper introduces the open education's subject foundation of philosophy, psychology, education and sociology. In this paper, I build an operation pattern of the open education by analyzing the current situation and future trend of the open education home and abroad. This paper takes Nantong University as an example to elaborate the operation pattern of the open education. This pattern involves three subsystems: the module of vertical management from the platform, the teaching module of the combination of guiding and learning, and the module of quality guarantee. This pattern system is composed of five elements. They are the provider of education (institutions of higher learning), the product (source), the product provider (the learning center), the middle man (teachers), and customers (students). This paper elaborates the relations of the five elements and their operation by introducing three subsystems: the guidance of teachers, the learning of the students and the source offered by the platform of the learning center.
