In modern society, people feel more and more stress from work and life. The stress influences people widely and seriously. Work stress has become a hot topic all over the world. In the West of our country, because of the backward development of economy, on one hand, educational reform goes on further and further, the specialization of teacher advances day after day; on the other hand, the problem of teacher stress becomes more and more apparent. Especial for teachers in elementary and secondary schools, they suffer from more stress form word and life etc which is bad for health and development of them. The teacher stress also affects growth of students. So this thesis focuses on concerning the conditions of teachers' stress in elementary and secondary schools, in the West of our country analyzing sources of teacher stress and searching for strategies in coping with teacher stress. This thesis includes four sections. Section one is about the background and significance Section two describes the present state of teachers' stress in elementary and secondary schools in the West of our country.Section three explores sources of teacher stress. This chapter tries to analyze sources of teacher stress from tow aspects: society and school. The aspect of society includes three points: many kinds of role expectation, the loss of teacher authority and basic living conditions of teacher. We talk about stress sources in school from three sides: the character of teacher occupation, school management and course reform..Section four devotes to searching for coping strategies of teacher stress on the basis of the foregoing chapters. This chapter makes some suggestions about coping strategies from tow points: teacher and school management. Teachers can cop with stress in three ways: forming integrated self-identification, founding rational cognitive style and improving self-efficacy . We advocate school management on the basis of "humanistic management". School managers should avoid "power orientation", escape from "regulation orientation" and break through "mark orientation", then give teachers self-confidence, concern and development in order to make teachers happy and healthy without stress.
