The new curriculum reform particularly cares about different students' needs, their individual differences, and calls for the student-centered teaching concept in the teaching procedure. Students vary from each other in different aspects and the differences in the cognitive style are extremely important that are the individual's typical or habitual mode of solving problems, thinking, perception and memorizing. It has an important influence to teachers' choosing and adopting teaching strategy whether they admit and respect students' differences on the cognition in teaching. It is beneficial to the improvement of teaching effect and the development of the students' psychology enginery to grasp and research on the students' cognitive style, and to make a suitable teaching strategy according to the students' cognitive characteristics, which plays an important role in their life-long development and cultivating their creative potential.Based on the research of the relation between teaching strategy and the cognitive styles of field-independence and field-dependence, this research commences from the differences of students' cognitive ways (or cognitive style), taking the chemistry study as an example, and discusses the influence caused by students' cognitive ways and teaching strategy upon the chemistry teaching through the empirical research. The key lies in the influences that the same teaching strategy conducts in the learning effect of the different students with cognitive styles during the instruction of chemical element and compound, the basic concept and principle and chemistry calculation. This research provides the psychology support so that chemistry teachers could choose suitable teaching strategies properly and promote the instructional results according to the teaching materials and students' different cognitive ways. Thus it could be done to teach reasonably depending on the actual situation. Results of the study indicate as followings:1. In the chemistry teaching, the students with various field cognitive styles have different learning effects. Generally speaking, the students with field-independence style learn better than the ones of field-intermediate and field-dependence.2. A certain relation exists between teaching strategy and student's cognitive styles. Different teaching strategies affect the students' results with the same cognitive style. The probing experimental and the unitary pedagogies are more suitable for the field-independent learners. The same kind of teaching strategies influence the learning of the students who own various cognitive ways. The step-by-step and the self-educated discussion teaching strategies are more beneficial to the field-dependent ones.3. The appropriate teaching strategy can raise the chemistry learning of the students who adopt the field-intermediate and field-dependence cognitive styles and contract the gap with the field-independent ones, but when choosing the teaching strategy and matching with the...
