Family Action-based, Contemporary Northern Rural Family Culture,

As the main component and core element of China's traditional culture, countryside family culture reflects the basic traits of rural society in China. It records, inherits and passes on the politics, economy, culture and social life in Chinese countryside. Its inherent mechanism and spiritual value take strong root through thousands of years of evolution. It satisfies people's social demands such as emotion, sense of belonging, historical sense, moral sense, respect, right, prestige and so on. It continues the blood affection of the same ancestor and the same family, transfers the primary humanistic care of human society, and plays a very important role in the social structure and countryside improvement in China's rural society. Moreover, it continues to influence the ideas, beliefs, and behaviors of the contemporary peasants during the present transitional period and modernization of rural society in China.The author thinks that most of population in China still lives in the countryside and most of them live their modern life, construct their spiritual world and pass on their history depending on village and family, or based on the family culture of handing down from generation to generation. The influence of family culture is not only profound, but also extensive, and it has been internalized into every class of rural society and formed sediment on every thing in peasants' lives. Therefore, it is very important in theory and practice to pay attention to the scenes and things of peasants' daily life, especially paying attention to the cultural condition that the social life depends on, and discovering and analyzing the peasants' 'living world' from all sides, for the social revolution in China, for the harmonious development and modernization of rural society even the whole society, for the construction of new socialism countryside.Using the principles and methods in sociology and anthropology, the paper takes structure/function analysis as its primary study frame and method from the view of cultural sociology. Based on the existed achievement, taken the present transition of rural society and resurgence of rural family culture in China as its background, the paper analyses the contemporary changes of the constituent elements of traditional family culture and the social foundation in reality and cultural foundation in psychology existed in family culture from the field investigation of current situation in a village in Shandong Peninsula which mainly took family actions and family affairs as its contents. It demonstrates the position, social function and future trend of family culture in the present rural social structure in China. It points out that as a realistic and reasonable existence, family culture corresponds with modernization in differences and produces some new cultural paradigm demanded by times and accepted by villagers, which integrates the most basic structure of rural society to some degree and promotes the modernization in rural areas.The conclusion of the paper can provide powerful spiritual support for the location of reasonable border of family culture, for the enhancement on the positive function of family culture, for the guidance at constructing the family culture of new model, and for the harmonious development of rural society. It provides a new useful thinking space for the cultural construction of new socialist rural construction in particular.The paper falls into six parts. The first part is an introduction mainly expounds the proposal of the question, the selection of the project and the meaning of the study. The second part is a summarization of documents which illustrates and analyses the main study achievements of Chinese family and family culture by scholars at home and abroad. The third part is the design of the study which includes the subject, content, hypotheses of the study and the new definitions and explanations of the two basic concepts, family and family culture. The fourth part points out that the constituent elements of traditional family culture has changed at present by demonstrating the current situation in the village and village family group at the case site. The fifth part encloses the new features of contemporary family culture in the north, the foundation and sense of its existence and development by analyzing the family actions and family affairs happened in Q village. The sixth part is conclusion and consideration which talks about the contemporary value and future trend of family culture by analyzing the reason for the resurgence, the contemporary changes and function of family culture.
