As an important part of the teaching process, assessment is becoming the focus of the current curriculum reform. Examination, the traditional form of assessment that has long been the guide to the teaching process, is becoming the critical factor of the assessment reform. How to make good use of the positive aspect, and to get rid of the negative aspect of exams, is of great significance to both the assessment reform and the current curriculum reform.How to assess students' Chinese achievements is the crucial and difficult point of the current curriculum reform of the Chinese subject, because of the lack of practical and theoretical summery of the senior high school entrance examination reform of the Chinese subject. The current Chinese curriculum reform advocates literacy-oriented exams, however, there exists no such an exam model that will effectively assess the students' Chinese achievements, and will serve as a guide to the classroom teaching.This article analyses the development of the senior high school entrance exam of the Chinese subject, in the hope of providing historical lessons, and triggering profound thought, so that an exam model that can give a scientific assessment of students' Chinese achievements will be constructed with its help in the future.This article can be divided into six parts:Introduction: where the topic is proposed, and the significance of the study is stated.Chapter1: The phase of formulating questions for an exam based on the teacher's teaching experience. Questions formulated in the senior high school entrance exam are obviously knowledge-oriented, namely too much emphasis being attached to basic knowledge which is in fact merely the memory of facts, and basic competence.Chapter2: The exploration standardized tests. Influenced by Scientism, standardized tests are introduced into the assessment of the Chinese subject learning, which makes the intended competence-oriented exam emphasize too much students' memory of basic knowledge.Chapter3: The decline of standardized tests and the sequent reform. The rising of the negative aspects of standardized tests prompts a new round of reform, which aims to test students' skillful use of the Chinese language.Chapter4: The literacy-oriented exams against the background of the current curriculum reform. The selective senior high school entrance exam evolves into junior high school graduation exam, focusing on evaluating students' Chinese literacy.Conclusion: Give a summery of the development of senior high school entrance exam of the Chinese subject, proposing to-be-solved problems.
