Since ancient times, examinations are our best selection of personnel assessment mode. The thousands years of imperial examination system in China fully proves China’s emphasis on examination, and also affects the development of the examination and evaluation system in China as well as the rest of world. Recalling the exam history of all ages, there are a variety of testing methods. In this paper, we study five representative testing methods which have the prospects of use, and explore their applications in China’s college entrance examination. The five testing methods are paper and pencil tests, interviews, recommended for admission, School-based assessment(SBA) and adaptive test. Each testing method has its own unique background, development process and application prospects. In today’s time, China’s education form is from elite education to popular education, and people keep calling for a college entrance examination reform. The implementation of each new testing method has a strong baton effect and the implementations of the results are received masses of widespread controversy. In view of the unique role and status in our country’s examination system, the implementation of college entrance exam must first ensure that the principle of fairness. On this basis, we can try some innovative reforms to break the "only score theory "and the drawbacks of the examination-oriented education. In2006, nine universities of autonomous enrollment, including Shanghai Jiaotong University, pilot to a reform by using interview to replace the written examination in college entrance examination; in2009, Peking University put forward and implement "the high school principal recommended system"; in2010,11Peking University professors jointly recommended that the College Entrance Examination take the form of a "College Entrance Examination+Interview"; in2011, Zhejiang Province tries to establish a "Trinity" entrance examination and evaluation system that includes academic standards test, comprehensive quality evaluation and unified selection examination. These programs are useful attempts for college entrance examination innovation in new era, but which sort of method is more suitable for the situation in China? What factors should be considered in China’s college entrance examination reform? Where is the direction of future college entrance examination? This paper attempts to find answers from the above five testing methods which are commonly used in the world. The structure of this paper is divided into five parts. The first part is an introduction; underdraw the current research status on the five evaluation methods. The second part introduces the five exam testing methods in the aspects of historical origins, development processes, and application results in China and abroad. In the third part, we use the Delphi expert consultation to establish the index system of college entrance testing methods, and establish an evaluation index weight according to the scoring results of three times of expert Consultation. In the fourth part, we use the analytic hierarchy process(AHP)to establish a hierarchical model and construct the judgment matrix math, and then conduct Mathematical operation according to the expert advices for the five testing methods, so as to select the best evaluation of the program. The fifth part is to optimize the selected college entrance assessment program, and come to a conclusion that China’s college entrance examination should mainly adopts paper and pencil tests, supplemented by a variety of other testing methods.
