With the development of information technology, the computer and the Internet are gradually applied and popularized in each aspect of society. The society is in bad need of large quantities of talented people who have certain information literacy increasingly. To meet our society's need, during our eighth new curriculum reform in our country, information technology curriculum of the ordinary high school is divided into two parts: compulsory and optional. The optional part is composed of five modules. The first module of it is about the algorithm and the programming; This module aims to enable students to further experience the algorithms thinking and to understand the status and role of the algorithm and the programming designed to resolve problems. This can enable the students to embark from the simple question, think up a procedure for solving a problem in a finite number of steps, and initially use one kind of programming language to realize the algorithm to solve the problem. Through this module study, the student can grasp the preliminary programming method and raise student's algorithm thought, and enhances the student to improve their logic acting capacity.Algorithm is the theory core of the computer science. In modern society, the computer has already become indispensable in people's daily life or work. The computer relays on the algorithm to solve any problem. The algorithm is an important foundation of computer science, no algorithm no computers. The original curriculum of the "preliminary design process" has been brought into line with the computer algorithm study. This manifested the necessity of the algorithm to the student information accomplishment promotionThis is the first time that Algorithm concept has been incorporated into information technology education of the ordinary high school. Certainly not much experience is available in the actual teaching. This research is intended to develop the research of information technology "the algorithm and the programming" from the angle of cultivating students' algorithm thinking. Though limiting the concept of thought and algorithm thought, I will do some research on my school's (the key middle school of Jiangsu Province) optional information technology course in the teaching of module one, as well as the experiment of the information Olympics competition (programming) held once a year, which is related to the algorithm and the programming.
