The traditional enlightenment education takes on the important functions of enlightenment and training children to be good. It has been playing the key role in the ancient traditional education through the ages. Its teaching materials and teaching methods have become light spot and quintessence of traditional education and have unique glamour across time and space after the baptism and filtration of time.Ming Dynasty is the heyday of the development history of our ancient enlightenment education. The teaching materials and teaching methods during the period of Ming Dynasty reflected the basic characteristics of the ancient enlightenment education centrally and typically. The teaching materials and teaching methods play the positive role of pushing and ensuring the development of enlightenment education at that time. And its abundant and valuable experience provide lots of wealth which can be used for reference for the compilation and use of teaching materials and the inheritance and improvement of teaching methods of Chinese in the middle and primary schools today.Before writing the thesis, I have read and packed up a large amount of relevant historical documents and materials and grasp the basic orbit of the development of the ancient enlightenment education. This thesis presented the abundance and variety of teaching materials and the system and practicality of teaching methods of enlightenment education of Ming Dynasty. In the thesis, the focal point is to summarize the universal rules of the compilation of teaching materials and the basic principles of the use of teaching methods of enlightenment education. Through comparing the teaching materials and teaching methods of Chinese in the middle and primary schools nowadays with those of Ming Dynasty, I tried to find out appropriate forms and methods to combine them.Through studying the teaching materials of enlightenment education of Ming Dynasty, we got two inspirations. One is that the basic principles and important lessons of compiling teaching materials of enlightenment education of Ming Dynasty are both inspirations to the compiling of Chinese in the middle and primary schools nowadays such as educational objective, content, ways of appearing, using guidance, compiling personnel and so on. The other is that the teaching materials of enlightenment education of Ming Dynasty can be redeveloped and reutilized in modern education especially on edifying the morality and idea, forming the behavior and habit, training the language and characters, accumulating the historical facts and general knowledge.Through studying the teaching methods of enlightenment education of Ming Dynasty, we can draw lessons from them and use them in learning words, writing words, reading and writing in the teaching of Chinese today. The innovative use of utilizing the rhyme and changing it to learn new words in the teaching of learning words.And the rational arrangement of"teacher's personal loud reading, students'reading, reciting, reviewing and teacher's analyzing"in the teaching of reading,and the emphasis of"the combining of reading and writing","writing more and modifying more"in the teaching of writing are all meaningful to improve the efficiency of teaching Chinese.
