Lv Shuxiang is a prolific linguist as well as a Chinese educator. He paid a long-term attention to the Chinese education in China and published a series of theses giving instructions to Chinese education. This paper discusses the parts concerning the teaching of language in his theses, which are sorted out, classified and expounded on the aspects of values, intentions, contents, teaching concept and teaching material,and reconsidering it in connection with new course reform. In the part of values, it puts forward the needs of commanding language of our motherland, the application in daily life, and facing the modernization. In the part of intentions, it achieves the goal of the education of mother tongue from the quality of tool and ideological content. In the part of contents, it expounds that the education of language mainly includes pronunciation, character, vocabulary, grammar, spoken language training, reading, and writing etc. In the part of teaching concept, it focuses on learning words by phonetic notation, the teaching method of read-write in advance, equal attention to language and character. And it expounds the teaching concept that the teaching of Chinese is a science as well as an art, teaching is a mean to achieve the goal of no teaching and skills rather than knowledge are important and also the teaching method of training the instinct of language. In the part of teaching material, it sets forth respectively two aspects of the division and integration of subjects and the scientificalness of teaching material. In the end, it makes some immature comments on Lv Shuxiang's ideology of language education in terms of new course reform and points out some limitation of times and the direction for further study.
