The author attempts to define geography open-ended test, which contains the test with opening setting test, multi-answer, no sole answer in the close-book examination and open-ended test in the open-book examination such as investigation, exploration, observation, manipulation, lecture, etc. We conclude that geography open-ended tests is characteristic of opening test and answer, lifestyle of question conception, intellection of answer process, penetration among subjects, multi-element of evaluation and the function of training students' attention to life and studying practically and improving students' accomplishment and prompting teachers' profession.Following one or several principles of opening, restriction, ideation, individuation, novelty, innovativeness, we design several open-ended tests case which suit with evaluating the students' study ability, thinking process, spirit of innovation, emotion, attitude and value. All of them are conformed to the new curriculum standard. Based on them, we formulate the evaluating standards referring SOLO and PTA. Mainly based on SOLO and experimental statistics analysis, it can be induced that adopting SOLO theory to evaluate the high-level thinking ability is satisfactory, which is mainly embodied in the reasonable difficulty coefficient, distinct degree of discrimination and rather high efficiency. Furthermore, the creating and assembling open-ended test and mastering SOLO should be more scientific and standardize.
