Geography open-ended question appeared for the first time in the college entrance examnination paper of fujian province in 2004.The author had the opportunity to take the question of evaluation work, and found that there exist some problems in the traditional evaluation method. So the author attempted to introduce the SOLO layered method into the evaluation of geography open-ended questions, choosed the appropriate scoring method for different types of exam, which made sense to reforming the grading system under the new curriculum.Firstly,This article made a theoretical and practical study about SOLO classification theory and geography open-ended questions,using SOLO layered method to evaluate the open-ended questions in volume of fujian in 2014. Secondly, this paper selected examples to three schools in xiamen city as the research object, making controlled experiment about SOLO classification evaluation method and the traditional evaluation method.The experimental results were as follows:one was the average score was lower under SOLO layered method,but the the variation coefficient was higher, so the SOLO layered method was relatively strict, had more degree of differentiation. Two is variation coefficient in the middle and low level high school is higher than high school under SOLO layered method. So this method is more suitable for the selection test in the middle and low level school. As a result,the author thinks that SOLO layered method is also applicable to the high school level exam and college entrance examination.
