"The personnel training mode reform of Central Radio and TV University and the experimental unit of open education" is the important measure taken by the Central Radio and TV University to put modern distance education into practice, form open education network and construct life-long education system. It is the same as any kind of traditional educational mode, which seeks teaching content's theory instilling and practice guiding. It is a new educational system based on the modern information conveyance technology. Practical teaching and theoretical teaching have the equal position. It is an important way to develop the students' practical ability and enterprising spirit. It attaches importance to practical teaching in the teaching system.Practical teaching includes two aspects: One is the practical teaching for the relative courses, such as course assignments, experiments, etc. The second is the centralized practical teaching, such as social investigation, course design, all sorts of practice and graduation assignments (thesis and design) etc. The centralized practice is closely related to graduation thesis and graduation project, so much attention is paid to it by the school teachers and students. However, the course practice, as an important part of practical teaching, is only a form as a result of lacking systematic design and organization. It has now drawn great attention from TV universities of all levels as to how to aim at the characteristics of the adult students, adapt to the speciality of modern distance education, meet the requirements of individual studies, really improve the effect of course practice teaching and increase the practical chances for adult students of open education. The present topic explains the course practical teaching significance of TV university, analyzing the present status and the problems existing in the course practical teaching of TV universities; under the guidance of teaching theories of blend and structuralism, doing researches on teaching principles,procedures,strategies of course practice; structuring multiple teaching modes for course practice, whose rationality and feasibility are tested through the practice in the curriculum of software engineering. The research achievements of this issue provides beneficial model for promoting course practical teaching and improving teaching approaches in the distance education.
