Reflection is an important way for students to learn how to learn. Reflection can promote students to observe things from different perspectives and to find different ideas, ask questions, and won't satisfy conventional methods in their study. These are all conductive to cultivate the creative thinking, and improve the ability reflection, which conforms to the two basic ideas of our new courses, cultivating the ability of research and innovation.According to the research, concept map is the cognitive tool which can promote student to reflect, but research about concept map improving students' ability of reflection is little in our country. In the support of concept map, author begins research about the ability of reflection of students, in order to expand the application of the concept map and bring new opportunities to the research about the ability of reflection of students. In the teaching practice, reflection is very weak. Teachers emphasize on teaching methods and teaching models for a long time, which makes students to remember lots of knowledge, but ignore to cultivate the ability of students.First, author investigates the present situation of the ability of students' reflection, finds out the problems, and obtains related research inspirations. Second, author discusses intension and characteristics of reflection, the composition of the ability of reflection, analyzes the general characteristics of the ability of reflection of middle school students, and summarizes the principles of cultivating the reflection ability of the students. Third, author introduces some knowledge of concept map, such as meaning, characteristics, related soft and so on. Then, author introduces the theoretical basis, and analyzes the possibility of cultivating the ability of reflection by concept map. On this basis, author brings up two strategies about cultivating the reflection ability which are used with concept map, one is the cultivation strategy of conscious of reflection, which is realized by stimulating interest in learning and displaying thinking process, the other is the training strategy of skills of reflection, which is realized by the concept map holder and making concept map by group collaboration. Author designs teaching cases about these strategies.
