His statistical achievements not only provided continuity with the development of the descriptive statistics, but also provided the foundation for the development of the inferential statistics and the modern theory of statistics. On the basis of abundant material and centering on the works of Karl Pearson, this paper systematically illuminates the three remarkable developments in the statistical history and clearly shows the development of statistics from 1850 to 1950. So that we can get a whole understand of the ideological evolution of the statistical theory. I hope that it is useful to the research of modern mathematical statistics. |
