Chemical Curriculum Standard in high school puts forward new requirements for evaluation, which triggers our re-recognition on the evaluation. The existing evaluation methods (including the objective test and subjective test) obviously can’t meet the requirement of testing the students’knowledge structure. The concept map evaluation is a good tool which can exactly examine students’knowledge structure characteristics. Among them, the three variables concept maps assessment(for short as TVCMA) as an effective one will show a promising application prospect.The research aims to applying the self-developed TVCMA test to more topics in middle school chemistry teaching, and explores its reliability and validity, in order to provide empirical basis on the application of the TVCMA test, and obtain strong evidence of TVCMA test as a supplementary evaluation tool.The paper mainly uses the research approaches, such as literature, investigation, and interview, and so on. The details are as follows. The literature method refers to the original concept map evaluation of papers and journals, in order to understand the research present, development, and achievements of concept map evaluation at home and overseas, and finally determine the direction of the research topics. The survey method distributes to students being measured the TVCMA test by questionnaires, through the TVCMA test first and the second to get the students to draw the concept map information. Then according to the interview outline start to interview, and assist the TVCMA test.In order to explore the TVCMA test in the aspects of the meaning and function about guiding the teachers’teaching and students’academic evaluation, this study is carried out by the students of a senior secondary school in Fuzhou city of Fujian province, and is tested through the TVCMA in the chemistry discipline, and then is applied to evaluate by three variables assessment.The research results show that TVCMA can be insight into students’understanding of knowledge in many aspects, also can be found to exist errors when the students understand the concepts and give the timely diagnosis, as well can predict the different levels of students’ academic levels, and effectively evaluate the students’ cognitive structure.In short, the TVCMA test can reflect students well in theme of subject study on the establishment and development of cognitive structure, will also be an effective auxiliary evaluation tool in the process of teaching.
