Exercise is one of the important methods of improving bone metabolism, enhancing bone density and preventing osteiporosis. The present study observed the effect of different intensity swimming training on the bone tissue morphous and structural mechanics of rats in growth and development stage. The purpose is to prove the theory that exercise can promote bone's growth and improve bone mass of adolescents.Forty-eight SD rats were randomly divided into 6 groups: control group(C), exercise control group (SC) and 4 exercise groups. Rats in exercise groups were trained by swimming exercise with load of 0%(S0), 3%(S3), 6%(S6) and 9%(S9) weight respectively (60min/d, 6d/w, 10w). After 10 weeks, all rats'bone structural mechanics parameter (including elastic load, maximal load , breakpoint load, elastic deformation , maximal deformation and breakpoint deformation) and organizational structure parameters (including trabecular bone perimeter, trabecular bone area, trabecular bone thickness, trabecular bone number and tabecular bone separation) were measured.Results: (1) All rats'weight increased along with ages increasing. The weight'increase of rats in exercise groups was lower than that in group C, and the higher intensity had more obvious effect. (2) Rats'femoral bone weight, structural mechanics and organizational structure parameters in group S0 were lower than that in group C; these parameters in group S3 were higher than that in group C; above parameters in group S6 were better than other groups (significant difference); all the parameters in group S9 were higher than group C but lower than that in group S3 and S6. (3) Rats'bone growth was not affected by exercise training.Conclusions: (1) Loading swimming training has good effect on the increase of bone weight, but swimming without load has bad effect. Swimming exercise has no effect on the increase of bone length. (2) Loading swimming exercise with proper intensity has good effect on the growth of bone tissue morphous of rats during growth and development stage. Within the proper intensity, higher intensity exercise has better effect. Exercise with above proper intensity has bad effect on the development of bone tissue morphous. (3) Loading swimming exercise with proper intensity has good effect on the bone's structural mechanics of rats during growth and development stage. Within the proper intensity, higher intensity exercise has better effect. Exercise with above proper intensity has bad effect on the development of bone's structure.
