Attributing the education innovation in the recent years in Macau, educational department subsidized the grammar secondary schools to open highschool professional courses in 2004/2005 academic year, which allows thegrammar secondary schools to open professional courses in the Macau diffluentinstitution in addition to the original technical courses in professionalsecondary schools, the arts and science courses in grammar secondary schools, and the continuing educational courses for adults. In the circumstances of theclassification of classes and groups, and school transfer within the schools, the situation of school transfer gets decreased from the diffluent institution.Regarding the study of diffluent institution in Taiwan and Macau as the theme, and Bereday's comparison research method as the skeleton, this research aimsto examine the current diffluent institution in Macau through documentaryanalysis as well as interviews and suggestions. The purpose of this researchis:(1) To realize the diffluent institution in Taiwan and Macau;(2) To compare the weaknesses of diffluent institution in two places;(3) To search a tailored diffluent institution for Macau;(4) To make some suggestions for the current diffluent institution in Macau. This research found that education was the aim of economic developmentduring the early establishment of diffluent institution in Taiwan and thenchanged to be the examination-focused education. Therefore, Taiwan governmentis now going to change university entrance examination into a diversified schoolentrance scenario. However, Macau government concerns students' individualdevelopment. Then it diverts its concern on how to decrease students' stressand how to deal with the university entrance examination. But it ignores thedesign of the diffluent institution and the key factors that influence thestudents' choices. During the interviews with the students, the researcherfinds that the design of the diffluent institution is the main contributor ininfluencing students' choices. The research findings show that, according to the experienced teachers,examination-focused education needs to be changed. The university examination has to be uniformed or changed to be the recommended entrance examination inorder to avoid the perspective that examination means the whole world. Manypeople think that the success and failure of education depends on the appraisalstandard of the university entrance rate. After the first round of diffluentselection, high school graduates in Macau are in the face of the diffluentuniversity entrance examination which are different in different universities. As a result, only the local uniformed university entrance examination in Macaucan completely decrease students' stress. The research conclusion andsuggestions are as followed:(1) To postpone the diffluent institution. The group classification in grammarsecondary schools should exist in senior three level rather than senior onelevel;(2) Concerning the recent rapid economic and environmental changes of Macausociety, some requisite courses in terms of tourism, conference andexhibition expertise, logistical management should be increased;(3) More elective courses in grammar secondary school should be designed todevelop students' personal expertise according to their interests;(4) To uniform the local university entrance examination and reform thetraditional selective examination method in universities, which canalleviate the high school graduates in applying for universities;(5) Grammar secondary schools should not open professional courses in order toavoid the waste of resources and the confusion of the role of education. It should develop students mentally and physically by opening morediversified interest courses.
