In the past few years, our student personality in the high school has dropped dramatically due to the multicultural conflict during the social transformation period, and due to our test educational model. In order to reach the essence of education, reach the goal of lifetime education and a harmonous society, according to the spirit of Shanghai second stage course reform ,we must focus on student personality training in our education system.Theorists in both home and abroad had different point of view on personality training. In the western education history, with the rise of the new idealism philosophy in Europe, represented by Bodde and Linda, Western society starts to focus on student's spirit training, advocating the return of humanity, which has a great impact on both western and Chinese education. In the 1990s, Lickona in the US put forward a systematic theory on personality education, which guided greatly for American schools.China has a long history in personality education. Our ancient educators, represented by Confucius, had created the principle and method for personality education. Yuanpei Cai et.al in the beginning of the 20th centuries, improved the ancient personality education theory by combining western and Chinese cultures. Educational specialists Yunxiao Sun and Xiaoming Luo put forward some new concepts about enhancing personality training to improve the present insufficient situation.In the past 20 years, America, Japan, Germany, Singapore and Korea all devoted themselves to the personality training, which has both similarity and difference. The theory and practice of personality education in ancient China can be summarized into seven methods; Boling Zhang, who was an educational specialist, did an outstanding work in personality training; Yu Yi, a contemporary teacher, put great value on personality training both in the Chinese teaching and school management. All mentioned above provide rich experience for the content and method of personality education.Because the theory and practice are not closely related in the politics class and its monotonous teaching mode, the sufficiency of personality training is very low.The national course reform and Shanghai second stage course reform create a great space for us to reform the current politics course in high school. According to the nature of the course and three dimension education goals, the writer have established goals, content and strategy of personality education in the politics course. First, create a better understanding of the main goal of personality training in the politics class. Second, solve some concept problems about personality training. Finally, the present writer come up with some effective teaching modes: case-based mode, cooperation mode, research study mode, and field-explore mode.
