With its great impact and attraction, computer network is changing people's life style, and World Wide Web as well as LAN (local area network) has already been a part of people's life. As a new type of communication, Computer-Mediated Communication shares some characteristics of the traditional relationships and also has its own features. In this thesis, aiming at 1,264 university students in Tai'an, Shandong province, the author examines the interrelationship among Computer-Mediated Communication, depression and interpersonal attachment by questionnaire, meanwhile, the author also studies the different types of interpersonal attachment and the influence that depression makes towards the relevant indexes of Computer-Mediated Communication.The findings are listed as follows:(1) In terms of Computer-Mediated Communication, the boy students do much better than girl students in interacting and communicating with strangers, participating in the web community, and interacting index as well.(2) In terms of interpersonal attachment, the boy students get more grades than girl students in safety type, escapism type and anxiety type.(3) In terms of depression, boy students score much higher than girl students in depression, namely, the boy students are depressed more greatly than girl students.(4) The university students'interpersonal attachment, Computer-Mediated Communication and depression are closely related to one another.(5) In some degree,university students'depression and anxiety attachment influence the establishment of Computer-Mediated Communication. (6) In some degree, university students'depression, along with safety-type and escapism-type interpersonal attachment, affects their participating in the web community.(7) In some degree,university students'depression, together with safe-type and anxiety-type interpersonal attachment, has some influences on network interpersonal index.(8) The stronger the interpersonal attachment or the higher the students'scores of depression of the university students, the stronger of their Computer-Mediated Communication would be.
