With the development and progress of society, people gradually come to realizethat personal development is the basis of social development, that the extent ofsocial development is determined by the comprehensive quality of human being.Meanwhile, the era of knowledge economy is not only more dependent onknowledge formation, application and innovation but also more dependent onpeople with creative minds and practical ability to promote social development. The social development imposes new requirements on our classroom teaching tofoster students' life-long education and their sustainable developmentpotential. That's what education fundamentally aims at.So, on the basis of various disadvantages brought by traditional physicseducation the Ministry of Education issued "Full-time Physics Education CurriculumStandards (Trial Version)" in July 2001, and "Ordinary High School PhysicsCurriculum Standards (Experimental)" in early 2003 to construct a new teachingconcept to improve students' scientific literacy, to make them comprehensivepersonnel able to adapt to the social development. However, the survey has indicated that there still exists a teaching phenomenonthat priority is given to knowledge instructions and teaching results instead ofstudents' overall development and the teaching process when teachers implement thenew curriculum. The teaching process emphasizes teachers' guiding roles rather thantaking students as centre. Such teaching makes students unable to thinkscientifically, poor in practical application and creative ability, lack ofself-motivation, right attitudes, emotions and values. As a result, it hindersstudents from overall development. In order to conform to and promote social development, this thesis holds thatclassroom teaching must give top priority to students' overall development, attachmuch importance to students' active involvement and their inner experiences, paymore attention to fostering students' scientific thoughts and methods, and developingstudents' spirits of innovation and their capacity to practice, as well as improvingtheir scientific literacy gradually. This study focuses on the issue of how the physics classroom teaching canmanage to be student development-oriented and how to improve students' scientificliteracy. Four strategies are raised in the thesis to solve the issue to wipe out theconflict between the implementation of new curriculum and traditionaleducation. They are the creation of teaching situations, the design and the analysisof teaching questions, and the construction of harmonious teaching atmosphere.
