In the 21th century, the competition between the countries in the world is growing acute. Theemphasis is laid on the competition of people's ability. Only when the whole nation's ability hasimproved, can the comprehensive power improve. For this reason, many countries reformed theireducation, besides China. The government pointed out that we should emphasize the abilityeducation. One's ability is multi-aspect, of which science ability is one of the most important aspects.In a time of highly-developed science and technology, only after owning some science ability, can aperson adapt to society because it is the basic of understanding the social and cultural value ofscience and technology, forming right sense of value and getting effective decision. Survey showsthat the scientific and technological literacy of Chinese is relatively lower. School education is animportant way to improve the young people's scientific and technological literacy, so our newsubject-reform puts forward the idea of "strengthening the development of scientific andtechnological literacy". This article, according to new subject reform, tries to explore how to developstudents' science ability in middle school physics teaching, expecting to show some enlightenmentand give some help to the educators as well as the new reform of physics teaching..This article explains the content, structure and character of scientific and technological literacy,then explores the present science ability level of people home and abroad, analyses the students'science ability in my school by surveying, and puts forward the importance of developing scienceability. This article also explores effective teaching strategies of developing students' science abilityby combining specific physics teaching, it designs practical teaching examples as well. Finally, itdiscusses some auxiliary strategies, including strengthening the science ability development ofphysics teachers in middle schools. At the end of the article, it explains a few problems to payattention to in developing students' scientific and technological literacy.
