Problem Solving is the core content of mathematics education. It is a part of mathematics education to improve students'ability of Problem Solving. There are many factors that affect students'Problem Solving. The language in problems is one of the factors.The aim of this research is to explore the language factors that affect students'Problem Solving. The research adopted methods of interview, content analysis, and test. The data were collected and analyzed by methods of interview and content analysis at the initial stage of research, which were the foundation of organizing the test paper. After that, 887 students of 1-3 grades were chosen to be tested in Beijing. The results indicate that (1) students'understanding of pictorial language isn't as good as expected; (2) some words, expressions, and structures of sentences affect students'Problem Solving; (3) the ability of understanding of the language in problems is improving as the grades growing.Some results of the research are identical with previous studies, and some are new. According to the results, the reasons to the results are explored in this paper. Conclusions of the research not only enrich the field of language and mathematics education, but also are helpful to mathematics teaching.
