The problem of university teachers'professional stress has been a social issues concerned by the whole society. As the style of our society is changing and the comprehensive reform of higher education is promoted, university teachers are under enormous professional pressure. The professional pressure they are experiencing is stronger than ever before both in frequency and intensity. It has influenced the physical and mental health of university teachers and the quality of their own life, the healthy growth of students and the development of education. As a result, analyzing the current and the cause of professional stress based which to come up with effective strategies will do a great sense. I hope this study would provide some basis and help for the society, school and teachers to acquire the solutions of alleviating professional stress, in order to improve the physical and mental health of them.This study adopted questionnaires and interviews mainly, and other research methods. I take a random sample of 400 college teachers of 4 universities in Shandong Province, and I pay a visit to 4 universities teachers to communicate with at the same time. Based with the survey and interview, I drew some conclusions as follows:1.In general, university teachers are under enormous professional pressure, and among which the teachers who are facing a little pressure accounted for 11.17 percent; teachers who are facing moderate pressure accounted for 59.84 percent, exceeding 50; and those who have a serious career pressure accounted for 22.61 percent.Teachers with moderate and severe pressure is up to the total number of 82.45 percent.2.The factors which led to the professional stresses of teachers are various kinds. This study involved five major factors: the security of the job, the load of the work, the interest of the job, the ensure of education and human relationships, which include a total of 24 sources of stress.The sources of stress events followed by high to low: the high request of work; a sense of knowledge crisis; job competition; low education level; no fun in work; long working hours; less training opportunities; for fear of illness; working always in the same way; disliking the current school work but have to go on, and so on.3.Vocational teachers of different titles are under different pressures accordingly. With serious pressure on teachers, lecturers account for the largest proportion, followed by teaching assistants. With moderate pressure on teachers, teaching assistants account for the largest proportion, followed by professors. With mild pressure on professional teachers, professors account for the largest proportion, followed by vice- professors, and lecturers are on the same level with teaching assistants.4.Based on the comparence of teachers'performance of different groups in every dimension, this study drew some conclusions as follows: Female teachers are facing higher pressure than male teachers; teachers whose age are around 31-40 are under the most enormous pressure, followed by 41-50-year-old teachesr, 51-60-year-old teachers facing the smallest pressure; in general, the lower the qualifications of teachers, the greater the pressure they are undering. Teachers with undergraduate degree feel more pressure than the teachers who has a master degree or doctorate qualifications.5.Various kinds of stress resources influence teachers'professional pressure differently. The high request of work, a sense of knowledge crisis, as well as the work competition, and the promotion of qualifications affect it mostly. The study researched around this concretely.Based on domestic and foreign scholars'research and the analysis of study results, we analyzed the problem of professional pressure of 4 universities teachers in Shandong Province systematicaly. We researched some reasons that led to university teachers'professional stress based which I provided some srategies to solve this problem.
