Honesty is an excellent traditional morality that was fomled from the 5,000-year civilization of the Chinese Nation.At present,it is not only a basic moral code for building Chinese citizen morality,but also a fine tradition that should be carried on and developed,and excellent moral qualities that need to be cultivated by college students.The problem of college students' honesty has been a center topic of society attention.In a large number of news reports and reflections of many scholars,there is a same message conveyed:The problem of college students' honesty could not be neglected.With the further development of the socialist market economy in China,especially after its accession to the WTO,China will enter into the age of honesty-based economy in advance.As a group at a higher level in knowledge,the level of college students' honesty immediately concerns the nation's whole morality.The development of the times,the training of higher education talents and the building of college students' healthy personality all call for the return of college students' honesty. What's more,as also the basis of college students' life and spirit in the future society,honesty is the necessary quality to college students.Summary of related studies:A great number of studies,ancient or modem,in China or abroad, have been carried on the problem of Honesty which has a connotation including:"Cheng" and "Xin". "Cheng" usually refers to a genuine inner-attitude and inner-quality;while "Xin" involves what one says and what one does,and the relationship with others.Honesty is an inter-practice of "Cheng" and "Xin" with an essence emphasizing on "Honest and Sincere,reasonable and fair,creditworthy and promise-keeping" manifested in no deception or guile,keeping one's word,no deceit on others. Honesty is a manifestation of individuals' qualities in personality,which are comparatively stable personal characteristics gradually developed through social study.The value of Honesty is as a basic moral code for maintaining social order and communication,and for safeguarding the proper interests of each person,the importance of Honesty to people's social life is almost like the water to fish,the air to people.The significance of Honesty is that it is not only an important force in the possibility of person-to-person's normal contact,of the stability of social life,and of conservation and the development of economic order,but the basic traits for college students' life and spirit,for being a person and doing things,and for planning great aims in the future.However,among the studies on Honest,most on theoretical discussions,but fewer on empirical research;In the field of pedagogics,there are just fewer studies on Honesty,especially on the problem of college students' Honesty in the recent three years,therefore,we need to do more research and conduct further in-depth studies.Based on the former research results on Honesty at home and abroad,this paper focuses on the following aspects as its intonation,its value,its historical trace,the comparison of Honesty culture between China and the West,and the significances of Honesty.Concerning to the problems as the instances of college students' lack of Honesty and the ways to solve the problems,this paper is divided into five parts: The first part:The lack of college students' Honesty is mainly reflected in the following:The lack of Ideological Honesty—the motive for joining the Party is not pure;The lack of Study Honesty—cheating in examinations,plagiarizing other's learning results;The lack of Economic Honesty—viciously defaulting tuition fee,not repaying loans and interests on time,cheating subsidies for poor students through pretence and deception;The lack of Application Honesty—deceptive resumes,defaulting the employment contract,using crafty,deceitful methods in job-hunting;The lack of Network Honesty,etc.The second part:Analysis on the reasons of the problem.Owing to the influence of the factors as social environment,school education and family education,the reasons that cause the lack of Honesty are:confusion over the concept of Honesty,indifference of the consciousness of law.In a sense,college students' lack of Honesty is an act of masses which has not been punished as it should be.The objective reasons are:the negative effect of the social big environment on college students, the insufficiency of Honesty education,the deficiency in morality training and the incompletion of rules and regulations in social laws.The third part:College students' Honesty is divided into four parts as study Honesty,Economic Honesty,Life Honesty and Job-hunting Honesty,which are compared and analyzed by means of levels in mathematical models.Then,a quantified assessment way has been worked out,which provides an effective reference for evaluating the level of college students' Honesty.1,The establishment of assessment criteria:According to the main content of the assessment of college students' Honesty as in Study Honesty,Economic Honesty,Life Honesty and Job-hunting Honesty,the author selects 14 evaluation criteria and 4 levels such as "often","occasionally", "seldom" and "never" for the Honesty assessment.2,The establishment of comprehensive assessment model:Firstly,establish a multi-level model; Secondly,fix the weight vector according to a large number of questionnaire survey;Then,apply the model to individuals and get the quantified assessment of an individual to analyze the results at last.The fourth part:Propose the principles and requirements for college students' Honesty and the goals for the construction of educational system of college students' Honesty.The education of college students' Honesty should be in accordance with the principle of being proud of Honesty,the principle of justice and the principle of taking people as a dominant factor.College students' Honesty education should be focused on training the students to be honest to knowledge,to others and to their life.The construction of college students' Honesty educational system is particularly important,which is mainly divided into the knowledge system,the value system,the application system and the assessment system.The fifth part:According to the instances of the lack of college students' Honesty,the analysis of the reasons for the lack and the demands which college students are assumed to have reached,this paper proposes the ways and strategies to improve the reliability of college students' Honesty.1,The strategies to improve the reliability of college students' Honesty are:a good direction of public opinion,a clear consciousness of Honesty,construction of Honesty assessment system, encouragement of honest acts,strengthening the establishment of Honesty system,forming united force of Honesty construction,nurturing moral culture of social Honesty,creating social environment,promoting Honesty education on college students and playing the leading role of colleges.2,The ways to improve the reliability of college students' Honesty are:strengthening and penetrating Honesty education in educational activities,carrying Honesty education through student management,demonstrating Honesty education in the construction of campus culture,deepening Honesty education in the activities of practice,immediately establishing file of college students' Honesty and full playing its role.
