Honesty is a traditional virtue of the Chinese People, an important foundation of modern civilization, and one of the core values of the Civic Virtue Implementation Outline. Chinese society has had a fine tradition of honesty since ancient times. People and government can't be trusted without honesty. Honesty is one of the basic characteristics of being a good citizen, the basis of shaping personality, and an important quality of being a noble person. Tremendous development has been achieved in each area since the beginning of the reform and opening up policy. College plays a fundamental role in the development of the morality and personality of its students and honesty is an integral part of this process. How to find the mode of adapting education of honesty in the new era needs not only the cultivation of qualified talents, but the promotion of socialist spiritual civilization.Although they have high cultural qualities, contemporary college students are seriously lacking in honesty, which is not in accordance with their knowledge level. Based on a thorough reasoning of the integrity loss theory, this thesis illustrates the causes for college students losing their integrity. These causes include the negative impact of the market economy, the influences from the scum in Chinese traditional feudalism, the shortcomings in the exam-oriented education in China, the deviations in the ethical education and the imperfections in the honesty-constraint system. Moreover, this thesis comes up with some solutions for strengthening the integrity of education in China, such as the establishment of a social evaluation system, the perfection of the Chinese education system, the further development of ethical training and education, the buildup of personal archives for recording ethical or unethical behaviors and the perfection of the integrity evaluation system for college students.
