Taking the social change of Dengxiangying, originally a small posthouse on the South Ancient Silk Road, as its subject, this thesis expounds on the place's change, through the time, from Yingxun castle to a posthouse, from service trade to farming, from farming to mining, then to tourism. Field work and relevant document research conducted by the author serves as the solid base for the development of this thesis. The main logic line for this thesis is how the locational relation change of politics, economy and humanities affected people's way of life in Dengxiangying community.This thesis consists of five parts. In the first part, which is introduction for this thesis, the author explains the reason she chose Dengxiangying as the research subject, reviews previous research on the South Ancient Silk Road and expounds on the theoretical background of her research and its academic and practical importance. The main structure of this thesis is also introduced in this part. The second part "Dengxiangying's Rising under the Empire" deals with the policy change of the Empire's central government towards the frontier as well as how Dengxiangying rose during that period. The third part "Dengxiangying During the Republic of China" deals with Dengxiangying society under the reign of Kuomintang after the Empire's control came to an end.TJie fourth part "Dengxiangying During Communist Period" deals with Dengxiangying has experienced the prosperity of the business - declining - and then the process of prosperity after the establishment of the People's Republic of China. The rise of Dengxiangying because it is located in the southern Silk Road traffic, and there is a tension between the Han-Yi at the same time, every domination requires a lot of efforts to manage Yi people's affairs. After the liberation, the new way construction and improvement of relations between Yi-Han, Dengxiangying has changed it's station .The state introduced the farmers to urban policy in the late 1950s, which lead Dengxiangying falling in to depressed business at one time post. After reform and opening up the road alteration, urbanization, development of local mineral resources, history and culture tourism development give an impetus to revival of Dengxiangying.Based on the analysis of Dengxiangying's social change carried out in the previous parts, this thesis states its point of view in the fifth conclusion part that locational change of politics, economy and humanities affects social change of a region.This thesis represents only one preliminary piece among many theories that deal with the complicated issue of social change. Studying change of the Empire's central government frontier policies recorded in documents as well as change of social life in Dengxiangying observed in field work, the author tries not only to reveal historical evolution of the social structure in a village, but also to present the process of confliction and sefment, dismision and construction so as to support the point of view that prosperity and progress social change experiences are not only results from the advancement of productivity but also the results of alteration and adjustment of certain political, economic or humanities locational change.
