The pattern and gender relation which changed from tradition to modern is explored in this paper, by taking the fieldwork in Tujia Shuanglong village, Enshi, Hubei province. There are two characteristics on the research method:Firstly, it applies the community research method and suggests the significance on multi-locations fieldwork; Secondly, it takes a response to the recent discussion on native anthropology. It indicates while the native researchers have a course of defamiliarization, they should have other one of familiarization in which the native research can develop a native spontaneous multi-dialogic scene that never be done by The Others research. The article points out that gender relation has changed from the traditional society to modern society. They are the traditional ethic model, the political model in collectivization era and the market economic model after reform and opening. No matter what kind of model, the practice of gender relation and the norms of gender relation form a tension:The traditional requirements deemed men’s superiority to women, which was adjusted by a variety of other ethical principles and practice rules. finally, men and women had maintained similar status; The gender specification in collectivization era required an absolute equality of men and women, male-centeredly, but political forces changed people’s life:the traditional rules deconstructed, gender equality prometed, and male authority subverted, and finally gender uphold and enhanced the practice location equaly; After reform and opening up, the market is getting involved in rural society and, economic criterias are making influences on the evaluation of gender relations, but the three types of rural couples donot become more unequal simply because of the level of income, and gender relation are more cooperative, more solidarity and intimacy. Practice deviates from the norm once again, but closer to equality. Therefore, gender relations are balanced in rural practice life, which include three aspects:the gender contributions to society are static equilibrium and there is no difference between men and women; the gender social status are dynamic equilibrium, swinging along the equality-center line like a pendulum. The basic structure of gender relation are the resulting change and change gender relations in the unity of opposites through the integration of practice and history.
