Today is a knowledge economy era, The human capital which is regarded as the most active in production, undoubtedly plays an more and more important role in the economic growth, yet education is one of the main ways that the human capital forms. education, which is the direct sustenance and important growing point for the knowledge economy, is more and more concentrated by the scholars. on the research into the relation of education and economy. The theory of western new-economic growth and the theory of human capital have proved that the human capital is the basic factor of economic growth in newly industrialization country and western developed country, and the investment and accumulation of human capital is the base of the sustainable economic growth. Education is one of the important ways that the human capital forms. The high-speed development is at the cost of the resources consumed excessively and the environment destroyed increasingly. This is excessive growth mode which is a kind of low output and high investment model, and it's a shackle to lasting out, steady-going economic development.At first, the back ground of studying is elaborated the theme, and the train of thought of the research and method are proposed. In the second part, the relevant research to this subject both domestic and international is summarized in the dissertation. In the third part, the paper divide the role of education in economic growth into two aspects -long term an short term, and also proves three means of contribution of education to economic growth ; it analyses the factors that affect China's economic growth and development of education ; using the empirical study, it analyses the contribution of education to economic growth of China. The result shows that education play a positive role in China's economic growth, but its development pattern is at the cost of resource consumption and environment deterioration compared with developed countries. The growth pattern will become an obstacle to sustainable, stead fast and healthy economy development. In the forth part, the text show the development of education and economic growth in Japan and in America, then summarized the properties of education in developed countries. The fifth part of the text shows that the transform of the economic growth mode must depend on education. This part shows the main problems of China's development .On the basis of above discussion and conclusion, the paper puts forward with some proposals in terms of China's education development. The last part of the paper makes a conclusion of the whole text and show the questions that need to be further studied.
