Modern Church School Science Education Research

Christian education is an important aspect of missionaries'activities in modern China. Meanwhile,Science education accounts for a significant part of Christian education.The research on the Education of Science can reflect the development and changing of Christian in modern China as a lateral perspective.Besides,the values and experiences can also benefit our contemporary education greatly.Basing on this reasons,we started this thesis.This thesis consists of three chapters mainly.Chapter one discusses the spreading of Christian religion in modern China,the raising of Christian Schools and the reasons of science education.In this section,there are two important problems.The author maintains that the failure of Replacement Form and construction of Faith-ecology accounting for the raising of Christian Schools.The subtle relation between religion and science,the theory of European education and the want of Chinese society can interpret the cause of science education.Chapter two focuses on the changing of science education.The course of science education is divided into three stages:Preliminary Development stage(from 1870S to the beginning of 20th Century),Perfection and Transformation stage(from the beginning of 20th Century to 1920S),Localization stage(from the later of 1920S to 1930S).Then,the thesis analyses the reasons about the different changes.Chapter three comments on the education of science in Christian Schools.Firstly,the character of science education is religious,modern and local.Secondly,such education benefits a lot to the education and society of Modern China. Finally,this thesis analyses the inconsistence of cause and effect,the authenticity of science and the relationship between Localization and Christianity.
