In social sciences, especially in Western anthropology and sociology, functionalism and structural functionalism are regarded as similarity to each other with a different concept in meaning. When the "functionalism" is used, the national academic have not been used to the strict distinction. The scholars have not the same points of the Fei Hsiao-tung's theory about the relationship between functionalism generally vague understanding of treatment, including relevant academic, and personal experience only from the origin theory of Fei Hsiao-tung and functionalism. It is difficult for us have a clear view:what kind of correlation between Fei Hsiao-tung and functionalism is; what effects on functionalist theory and Fei Hsiao-tung's Sociology are; and what choices and Fei Hsiao-tung has made on functionalism. In order to clarify these questions and to clarify the Fei's theoretical functional theory, methods of absorption and utilization, this paper concerns the following three stages:budding period of functionalism is Fei's early prior to study medicine where he studied Malinowski; during the period of scientific functionalism, corresponding to the period in England is the period most affected by Malinowski. Period of structural functionalism, Fei's functionalism advocated by the Malinowski Brown held towards the structural functionalism that Zhang changes is largely returning to the UK, "Quebec Court" work of this period. So far, Fei began his new theoretical guidance period, not closely following Malinowski functionalism, Fei completed the functionalism of Malinowski. Human structural functionalism during the period of time generally is its old age of "anti-rightist". With the changes in the pattern of international academic-structure and function of doctrine in the forties and in the fifties, as well as domestic radical social change- "Cultural Revolution", he promoted a complete source of reflection, abandoning to begin adhering to the Pan,'s new humanism. Thus, the thesis can be precipitated two conclusions:first, Fei completed structural functionalism more than Brown. Second, Fei finished his changes from the community to the social ontology. The third, Fei completed the combination of the Western theory and traditional Chinese culture. The main conclusions of this paper is:Fei's is a dynamic process of the absorption and utilization, with subtle changes. Fei was functionalism before he learned from Malinowski. Compared Malinowski, Brown had an greater effect on Fei. By the impact of the preamble to the "Village Economy" made by Malinowski, "Peasant Life" was misread by later generations to deal with Malinowski's preamble to re-interpret, because "Peasant Life" refers to guide rather than specified evaluation. Finally, the article for the localization of sociology suggests three points:the first is thinking and methods of localization, rather than the Western theory of localization; the second is that the use of Western theory should be the transformation methodology; the third is that the localization of sociology is both to focus on scientific principles, and to attach importance to humanism.
