Urbanization In The Rural "empty Nesters" Retirement Problem

With the rapid progress of urbanization and social transformation, a large number of rural surplus labors leave home, and go to city and nonagricultural industries. Migrant Workers in China is more than 130 million in 2008.A large number of rural young workers pours into the cities, and large number of"Empty nest family"appears in rural areas. This challenges the tradition of family-oriented old-age pension. Owing to the weakening of family pension model, empty nest old men have many problems in economic support, life care, spiritual comfort and so on. Main problems are: most empty nest old men's lives can maintain necessary food and clothing only, poverty is very common; empty nest old men lack care when they have illness; empty nest old men's spiritual needs are difficult to meet; large outflow of rural labor participation increased the labor burden of empty nest old men, and many old men are very tired. The problem of pension of empty nest old men has become prominent, and establishes a new pension model has been imminent. The establishment of new rural security model has great significance for the maintenance of harmony and stability in rural areas and the harmonious socialist society.In this paper, survey and case study interviews are main methods .This paper is divided into five parts. The first part is an overview of the basic conditions of the Xie Zhaicun; the second part talks about the working situation of the children, the elderly daily life conditions, emotional and spiritual comfort; the third part analyses medical care, psychological problems of the empty nest elderly in their daily lives; the fourth part analyzes the main factors which impact pension; the fifth part puts forward corresponding measures and suggestions.This paper argues that, in order to solve the empty nest old men's pension problems, we need to improve in the following areas: First, continue to promote family support, and strengthen the family support function. Second, establish a rural old-age social security system. Third, develop the rural economy to increase farmers'income, and accelerate the pace of new countryside building to encourage migrant workers return home. Fourth, establish and perfect the organization of rural elderly people, and prosper the rural culture. Fifth, pay attention to the role of social forces to help strengthen the community welfare and community services. Sixth, strengthen moral education and the legal system in the whole society.This paper bases on a more detailed empirical survey study: Xie Zhaicun, in Henan province. The paper draws more clear and specific description of empty nest elderly in rural living conditions and existing problems, and then proposed the corresponding measures. Rural social's harmony and stability is the base of the whole social's harmony and stability, therefore, solve the empty nest old men's pension problems, and establish compatible new rural pension model have important significance for economic and social development, for the construction of the socialist harmonious society in China.
