Abstract:In the1970s, in order to control the population in our country, the government carried out the one-child policy in the nationwide. The policy alleviated the huge population pressure objectively, which complying with the times. However, with the urban one-child growing up gradually in recent decades, they begin to study or work far away from home. As a result, many one-child families enter into empty-nest period ahead of time, leading to lots of pension problem, particularly in terms of spiritual support.Under the guidance of social work theory and research achievements at home and abroad, I intervened in some typical cases of urban one-child empty-nest family’s pension problems by using professional social work methods, to help the aged who have life troubles with negative emotion. Based on this, I try to explore the feasibility and necessity of social work to solve the one-child parents’pension problem, and search the specific path and countermeasures to promote the development of geriatric social work.Pension problem is one of the important social problems concerning the national economy, people’s livelihood and the stability of our country. The number of urban one-child empty-nest families will continue to expand in the future, which is needed to be concerned by the whole society extensively. Besides advocating and promoting professional social work in the one-child parents pension problem, this paper also calls on other social subjects to attach importance to this matter. We should provide a harmonious environment for the aged and promote the development of the elderly care utilities. It is of great significance for the construction of harmonious society of our country.
