Empirical Study On The Problems Of The Elderly Of Rural Empty-Nest Family

The elderly are the precious wealth of a society. It is one of the important symbols of social harmony that they are happy and healthy. However, with the increasing of the elderly population, the elderly problems show gradually and the phenomenon of the elderly of empty-nest family becomes obvious. The quantity of the elderly of rural empty-nest family grows quickly because peasants make up the majority of the population of our country. The elderly of rural empty-nest family are those over 60-year-old people whose all children study, work or live from home chronically or whose all children live in the same community but not live with them together. It is an inevitable realistic subject in the construction of socialist new countryside and socialist harmonious society that the elderly of rural empty-nest family live in penury, lack daily care,feel seriously lonely and lack medical services etc. So, this paper hereby makes the following researches on the issue:Firstly, it illustrates the realistic significance of concerning the elderly of rural empty-nest family from three aspects, that is, it is an inevitable requirement of practicing the concept of scientific development,an urgent demand of promoting the construction of socialist harmonious society and an important measure of improving socialist new countryside to concern the elderly of rural empty-nest family.Secondly, it discourses the main problems that the elderly of rural empty-nest family face at present, namely, they live in penury without gratification, lack daily care without dependence,feel seriously lonely without happiness and lack medical services without health etc.Thirdly, it analyzes the main reasons for the problems of the elderly of rural empty-nest family. It is the principal cause of the problems of the rural empty-nest elderly that the endowment function of rural family is gradually weakening with the lower level of rural economy development, rural family miniaturization and rural labor transferring. It is the major reason that the ability of peasant self supporting is weaker, the rural community endowment institutions are short and the social endowment insurance system is imperfect and the social aid rights and benefits of the elderly of rural empty-nest family are not guaranteed powerfully. It is one of the causes that the rural public recreation facilities are deficient, the elderly recreational activities are lack and the rural medical conditions are inferior.Fourthly, it explores the major countermeasures of solving the problems of the elderly of rural empty-nest family. It proposes to strengthen the endowment function of rural family, to establish and perfect the rural society endowment pattern by means of developing community endowment pattern, self endowment of rural enterprise pattern and mutual-aid endowment pattern, to perfect rural social endowment security system and rural medical security system, to amplify the protection of the rights and interests of the rural elderly and enrich entertainment activities of the rural elderly to solve the problems of the elderly of rural empty-nest family.
