Framing and practicing of the new curriculum for physical education has breathed new life into soccer teaching. Many kinds of researches and discussions have been made about soccer teaching in classrooms since then. No matter how the PE educational thoughts are updated, how the teaching contents are reformed and how the teaching modes are transformed, the ultimate destination of the PE class is to enhance teaching quality to achieve good results. That is to say, the PE teacher plays a positive role in physical exercise and skill mastery etc by employing finite teaching time, teaching space and teaching materials to a great extent. At the same time, we should also be aware that there are lots of problems for us to solve in the course of carrying out the new curriculum. Take soccer teaching for an example, it's a big challenge to reform the traditional teaching and hold back the declining tendency of soccer teaching in middle schools. Soccer is losing its proper status in schools of various stages and facing unprecedented difficulties. Many soccer professionals and PE teachers show deep concern for such situations of soccer in China and manage to reverse these adverse trends.In this paper, the author uses the methods of documentary, investigation, interview, logical analysis and mathematical statistics to investigate and research the current states of soccer teaching in 32 middle schools in Jinan. From analysis and investigation, the author draws the following conclusions: 1. PE isn't given sufficient attention in middle schools in Jinan; 2. There's a large gap between the contents of new curriculum training and actual demands of the participants. 3. There are few opportunities for teachers to exchange their good experience and teaching methods of their scientific teaching research.. 4. The choice and the arrangement of the contents of soccer teaching lack scientificity and systematicity 5. Evaluation of PE teachers mostly depends on the students'MQS, teachers'skill level and good attendance. 6. PE extracurricular activities in middle schools in Jinan still lie in disordered states, and more places and facilities for sports in schools are in great need.The author puts forward the following proposals for the current states of soccer teaching in middle schools in Jinan: 1 . To intensify propaganda and deepen the understanding of soccer; 2. To strengthen teacher training for soccer teaching; 3. To raise awareness of scientific researches and improve tteachers'research ability; 4. To carry out comprehensive evaluations on various contents of soccer teaching; 5. To put more money to better conditions of playground facilities; 6. To work out an outline for extracurricular activities and reinforce the management; 7. To arrange compensation insurance for accidental injury for students and dismiss teachers'worry for students'injury.
