During the past decade, Tennis has been an increasingly popular sport in China. With more and more Chinese athletes showing potentials in domestic and international tennis tournaments, there exists an urgent demand for tennis-teaching methodology to push forward the development of the athletes' comprehensive strength in playing tennis, especially among the teenage groups. It is known that teenagers are in a significant period of both psychological and physical development. According to the "Structure-Orientation" teaching theory, the individual relies on the formation of psychological development to acquire certain technical skills. Therefore, the designs of teaching curriculum should refer to the characters of the individual's psychological development. This article tentatively applies the "Structure-Orientation" teaching theory into the teenagers' tennis class, aiming to explore the implications of such a teaching method. The research subjects are 30 male teenagers at the age of 11-13. The subjects are divided into three groups, one of which consists of ten professional tennis players. This group is referred to as a reference. Various Research methods are adopted in the study, such as literature review, measurements in PE teaching, interviews, data analysis. The whole teaching process lasted for six weeks, altogether 24 hours. The teaching method based on "Structure-Orientation" teaching theory is used in the experimental group, and traditional teaching method is using in the control group. After the test cycle, each subject's performance from the two test groups in using backhand drive with two hands while playing tennis was recorded and used to be compared with the same performance of the reference group. The data is analyzed by SPSS 16.0 to show the significant difference between to different teaching methods in tennis. The results of the study are 1) it is feasible to combine the teenagers' psychological development with the teaching method based on the "Structure-Orientation" Theory; 2) the using of multi-medium teaching method is helpful for teenagers to achieve a better understanding and overcome the physical obstacles in training;3) such a teaching method avoids the focus on "part-whole" explanation in the traditional method and improves teaching efficacy; 4) such a teaching method enhances the teenagers' learning interests and effectively cultivate the motivation of self-learning.
