Online teaching support system on the application in education and teaching played an important role of promoting the coordinated development of education scale, the structure and the quality. Education informationization, including the digitization of teaching content, teaching resource and teaching method, has become the trend of educational development. But the effect of teaching is adversely affected by problems of the current system, such as the difficulties of updating and expanding the teaching content and the low teaching resource utilization.To solve problems of the current teaching support system, by introducing the concept of blended learning, this paper has designed and developed a blended learning support system for institutions of higher learning. The main works done are as follows:1. Analysed and designed the system. By analyzing the system requirements, combined with blending learning theory, its characteristics and educational resources metadata, the domain model and the architecture of the system have been designed. In addition, the main functions have been designed detailedly. These included the organization and storage of resources, making and maintaining courseware, the function of teaching and collaboration and exchange.2. Studied the mechanism and implementation method of updating teaching content easily. The teacher or student can personally customize and update the structure and the content of different books with the basic skill of operating computer(zero-technology dependence), thus maintaining the evolvability of teaching contents. Besides, teaching strategies can be maked independently by teachers or generated automatically by recording the teaching process.3. Studied the technology for developing network system and the integrated development approach of network system and desktop system basing on RIA. By using Cairngorm-Spring-Hibernate structure, the method of integrating with Flex and J2EE has been studied. By using Flex AIR, implemented a cross-platform and easy to deploy local system based on web application development techniques rapidly, thereby to benefit the teaching in the no network connection envioronment. 4. Studied the personalized learning service. According to the VSM thought, Proposed user interest modeling method based on user interest feature words, then by using the user interest model with content-based filtering algorithm, the personalized learning recommendation algorithm based on user interest model has been proposed.
